FAQs

  • I do not accept insurance at this time. However, I’ve partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits for potential reimbursement on therapy. You can check your eligibility for reimbursement here.

  • Out-of-network benefits allow you to see a therapist who isn't directly contracted with your insurance company while still getting reimbursed for a portion of the session cost. Typically, you pay for sessions upfront and then submit a claim to your insurance for reimbursement. Many plans reimburse a percentage of the session fee after you meet your out-of-network deductible.

  • Mentaya simplifies the reimbursement process by handling the paperwork, claim submissions, and follow-ups with your insurance company—so you don’t have to! Here’s how it works:

    1. Check if you qualify: Click here.

    2. Sign up for Mentaya: Join here.

    3. I submit your sessions into the platform.

    4. Mentaya takes care of the claims, following up with insurance as needed.

    5. You get reimbursed directly from your insurance company.

Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, but they guarantee successful claim submissions—or you get a full refund of their fees.

  • No problem! I can also provide a superbill for you to file independently for possible reimbursement.

  • If finances are the only thing holding you back from reaching out, please know that in some circumstances I have been able to create acceptable arrangements with folks based on one’s unique situation.

Additionally, I can provide referrals to therapists who may be able to accommodate your financial situation.

  • In your first session, we'll take the time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you in for therapy. I'll listen to your concerns and together we will create goals you'd like to work toward. We'll also go over logistics, like the process of therapy and confidentiality so you feel comfortable and clear about the process.

  • How many therapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you'll need depends on your individual goals and needs. We’ll work together to create a personalized plan that fits your unique situation. Typically, people start with weekly or biweekly sessions, but we can adjust the frequency based on your schedule, finances, and what works best for you.

  • Perinatal refers to the period during pregnancy and up to a year after giving birth. It combines what’s often referred to as prenatal (during pregnancy) and postpartum (the first year after birth).

  • If you’re concerned that your partner, or any loved one may be experiencing symptoms of a postpartum mood disorder like depression or anxiety, it’s important to encourage them to reach out for support. If they’re unable or unwilling to seek help, you can contact the Postpartum Support International warm-line at 1-800-944-4773 or the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-852-6262 for immediate assistance. If you are in a crisis contact the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988. If you believe they are in danger of hurting themselves or others, please take them to the nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1.
